Portland Proposal at Hoyt Arboretum

Leo reached out to me hoping to capture his sweet Portland proposal to his girlfriend Star. I suggested the Redwood Deck at Hoyt Arboretum and immediately won him over with the idea! Leo gathered his family and asked Star’s family to take her on a “walk” (wink, wink) through the forest. He waited on the deck for her and excitedly dropped to one knee to pop THE big question! This Portland proposal at Hoyt Arboretum in Washington park was so simple, sweet, and tender.

I had never photographed a proposal where the family was present before. And you know what? It made it so special and sweet! I loved getting to watch all the hugs and tears from loved ones as they gave their support to the newly engaged couple! What a beautiful joining of two families.

Bonus – my sweet cousin was actually in attendance (and actually recommended me to her brother-in law). It was nice to see her and to meet some of her husband’s family!

The long family hug between Star and her mother (then father and siblings) was SO tender I nearly cried. This is why I love to do what I do – getting to witness such special, emotional human moments is such a blessing and honor.

This session also reminded me how much I love to photograph proposals! It’s like the very start of the wedding love story and is SUCH an exciting time. From the knee-bouncing moments before the big questions, to the tears and hugs after the “YES!” … I am SO into it!
